In Match 4 of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) at Brabourne Stadium, Richa Ghosh had a difficult time playing against Mumbai Indians. The 18-year-old wicket-keeper from India encountered a few misunderstandings while running between the wickets with Australia’s renowned all-rounder Ellyse Perry.
Despite surviving a couple of close calls, Perry was eventually run out on the third attempt. One of the most peculiar miscommunications between Ghosh and Perry occurred during the ninth over when Perry sliced Saika Ishaque’s delivery on the fourth stump towards backward point.
While Perry was searching for a quick single, Ghosh remained fixated on the ball at the non-striker’s end until Nat Sciver-Brunt expertly stopped it. With Perry way out of her crease, Humaira Kazi wasted no time in throwing the ball to the keeper’s end, and her direct hit ensured Perry’s departure after scoring 13 runs off seven balls.

After losing Smriti Mandhana, Heather Knight, and Sophie Devine early in the innings, Perry had to take on the role of the anchor to keep the scoreboard moving.
Losing her valuable wicket in that manner left Perry understandably disappointed, and Ghosh had no excuses to offer from her position at the other end.
