WATCH : Serious security lapse in Delhi as pitch invaders swarm Kohli

Delhi sailed to an innings victory against Railway on Saturday, thanks to a stellar five-wicket performance from Shivam Sharma, who bowled them out for 114 after taking a first-innings lead of 133 runs. However, the result wasn’t the main talking point of the day.

The real buzz came from the large crowd that had gathered to welcome back Virat Kohli in Delhi colours for the first time since 2013, marking his first Ranji Trophy appearance for the city in over 12 years. But just as the match was nearing its conclusion, things took a concerning turn due to a security breach.

As the game was in progress, several pitch invaders breached the fences to get close to Kohli, who was positioned in the cover and point region. By the time security reached the scene, the 36-year-old was already surrounded by the intruders, though fortunately, no harm was done during the brief interruption.

Videos later surfaced showing policemen and security personnel struggling to pull fans off the fences, with as many as three officers needed in some cases to restrain a single individual.

The incident quickly became a topic of discussion on social media, with many criticizing the lack of adequate security for such a high-profile occasion and the reckless behavior of the pitch invaders.
