The team management of Rajasthan Royals reappointed Ajinkya Rahane as the skipper of the team for the rest of the matches. The franchise announced this news after the unavailability of Steve Smith, who left out the league to join the Australian squad.
Earlier, Rahane was sacked from the captaincy after 2 wins in the first 8 matches of this season. After that Smith appointed as new skipper and won 3 matches out of 5, he lost 1 match, while one match washed out.
The team management of Royals said,”We have requested Ajinkya to take on the captaincy of the team. As a true Royal he has shown great courage and character in graciously accepting the responsibility, which accompanies this role, whilst it would have been easier for him to take a back seat and focus solely on his batting.”
“He has consistently been part of the leadership team taking key decisions and we have full trust in him taking us to victory tomorrow,” they added.
