In a recent interview, former South African pacer Allan Donald revealed that Indian cricket legend Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar is the toughest batsman that he ever faced in his career. His other honorary mentions included West Indies legend Brian Lara, Australia’s star all-rounder Steve Waugh and English batsman Miachel Atherton. However, he made it clear that no one in that list was as hard to face as the Master Blaster.

Allan Donald, who was once regarded as one of the best fast bowlers in the world, recently gave an interview to a Youtube channel named ‘Cricket Life Stories.’ It was there that he was asked about the toughest batsman he faced in his career to which he responded, “The guy who’s technically the best and I’ve played against is Tendulkar. I found it in South Africa that he could adapt to the conditions and our techniques better than any other Indian batsmen back in those times.”
“If he stands on the crease for like 28 or 30 overs, you know you are going to have a long-long day. He played ball better than anyone else and also left it better than all,” said Donald while speaking on a YouTube channel Cricket Life Stories.

Mentioning the other greats that he has faced like Lara, Waugh and Atherton, Donald said: “Another Genius, Lara, the best stroke maker I’ve ever played against. He had a great back lift and could play very aggressively. We had to be very aggressive against him too to make him stop.”
“He could also play some of the most unique shots which were actually laughable but he carried them with great spend as he had superb pair of hands,” he concluded.
Allan Donald retired from ODI cricket back in 2003, when Sachin Tendulkar was at his prime. An aged Allan Donald might have found it difficult to bowl against the Master Blaster as it is only obvious. However, it would be interesting to see who would win in a fight between the two legends when both of them were in their primes. Unfortunately, we can never come to a conclusion regarding that with surety.
