The final and decisive match of the three-match T20I series between India and New Zealand was played on Wednesday, 1st February at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Team India captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and chose to bowl first. India’s opener Shubman Gill scored the first T20I century of his career and also celebrated it in a special way. The video of his celebration is now viral.
These days, Shubman Gill seems to effortlessly score centuries. Following his successful performance in ODIs against New Zealand, he dominated the New Zealand bowlers and achieved his first T20I century.
At the age of 23, Gill recorded a century in just 54 balls, contributing to India’s massive total of 234 in 20 overs. After Ishan Kishan was dismissed early in the innings, Gill and Rahul Tripathi effectively hit the bowlers to all parts of the field.
Tripathi was dismissed after scoring 44 runs in 22 balls, but Gill continued his powerful performance and achieved his fourth century of 2023. Instead of performing his signature “bow down” celebration, Gill celebrated in a display of anger, seemingly aimed at his critics who had called for his exclusion from T20Is.
