On Thursday, at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, the captain of the Australian team, Pat Cummins, won the toss and made the decision to bat first in the opening Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

In the Test match against Australia, led by captain Pat Cummins, India welcomed Suryakumar Yadav as a new addition to their middle-order batting lineup in T20I cricket, while wicket-keeper KS Bharat also made his debut. Meanwhile, Australia handed out the coveted Baggy Green cap to spinner Todd Murphy.

The India caps were presented by former coach Ravi Shastri, while the Australian spinner and member of the playing XI, Nathan Lyon, gave the Baggy Green to Todd Murphy.

For the first time ever, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) extended an invitation to the families of Suryakumar and Bharat to come inside the ground and witness the Test cap presentation ceremony.

Immediately after hitting the pad, Siraj let out a huge appeal for LBW and appeared to believe the ball may have pitched just outside leg or was going down. Nevertheless, Siraj requested a review. Rohit sought confirmation from Srikar Bharat and signaled to request the review with only one second left on the timer.

The replay showed that the ball was in line with the leg stump, but there was a chance it could swing down leg or be deemed an umpire’s call. However, the ball-tracker indicated three reds and revealed that the ball had made contact with a significant portion of the leg stump.

This was an incredible start from Siraj, and even the Indian team was initially surprised upon seeing the ball land, expecting it to only be an umpire’s call, but then erupted in excitement upon seeing that the ball had actually hit the leg stump quite well.
