At the end of Day 2, the second Test match between India and Australia, which is being held in Delhi, is in an exciting state. This is due to the impressive batting performance displayed by Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin, followed by a brave cameo from Travis Head.
As a result, Australia managed to close the day with a score of 61/1, which puts them ahead of India by 62 runs in the second innings.
On Day 2 of the second Test match against Australia at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, India found themselves in a precarious situation at 139/7. However, a remarkable partnership of 114 runs for the eighth wicket between Axar Patel, who scored 74, and Ravichandran Ashwin, who contributed 37, helped them recover.
Apart from this duo, only Rohit Sharma (32), Virat Kohli (44), and Ravindra Jadeja (26) managed to score over 20 runs, but they appeared to struggle against a spin-heavy Australian attack, led by Nathan Lyon (5/67). India ended up posting a total of 262, falling just one run short of Australia’s first innings total.
In the absence of David Warner, who was sidelined due to concussion and later replaced by Matt Renshaw, Australia made the decision to have Travis Head open the innings with Usman Khawaja. This proved to be a wise move, as Head remained unbeaten on 39 off 40 balls, hitting five fours and a six.
Khawaja, on the other hand, started off well and looked promising, but failed to capitalize on it and eventually lost his wicket to Jadeja (1/23). At the end of the day’s play, Australia were in a favorable position, having reached 61/1 after 12 overs.
