Akhil Akkineni, the captain of the Telugu Warriors, led a fierce attack against the Kerala Strikers in the Celebrity Cricket League. On Day 2 of the tournament, Akhil set the highest score so far. Opening the batting, the 28-year-old displayed an impressive performance, and only towards the end of the innings did Kerala manage to get the better of him.
Akhil single- handedly contributed to the Warriors’ substantial total. Kerala Strikers made a wrong call by electing to field first, and Akhil Akkineni wasted no time in proving it. The Telugu Warriors captain was in an imperious form, scoring 91 runs off just 30 balls.
He contributed more than 60% of his team’s total in the first innings, and with his commanding knock, the Warriors reached a total of 154 in their 10 overs. Akhil achieved his half-century in just 20 balls and accelerated his scoring rate at the end of the innings.
He reached 90 off 28 deliveries, before being caught by Vijay Yesudas at the cover. His score remains the highest in the tournament so far. Akhil and Prince put up a 100- run partnership, with Prince scoring 45 off 23 balls and later picking up 4 wickets.
The Celebrity Cricket League will be broadcast live and exclusively across the Zee TV network on seven different channels – Zee Anmol Cinema, &Pictures Hindi, Zee Cinema Telugu, Zee Thirai Tamil, Zee Picchar Kannada, Zee Bangla Cinema, and Zee Biskope.
