In the WIPL match against UP Warriorz, Delhi Capitals showcased their dominant batting skills. Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma started the innings in a very strong manner, scoring over 60 runs within the first six overs.
Elisa Healy, the captain of UP Warriors, won the toss and chose to field first. During the powerplay, Delhi’s opener Shafali Verma batted brilliantly, but unfortunately, she was caught out in the 6.3 over.
Shafali created space to hit a six over long-off, a remarkable shot that is likely to be featured in the highlights. The captain continued her excellent form and scored over 70 runs, while Alice Capsey maintained the momentum by hitting frequent boundaries.
Towards the end, Jess Jonassen played an exceptional innings. Jemimah Rodrigues played a crucial role as well, as she remained unbeaten at 67 while partnering with Jonassen. UP Warriorz made a mistake of over-analyzing the pitch, and delayed the entry of Deepti Sharma and Sophie Ecclestone, which allowed DC to start strongly.
The total they have put up is enormous, and without Grace Harris to rescue them, it’s going to be a challenging task for UP Warriorz. Royal Challengers Bangalore was handed two crushing defeats back-to-back in the earlier stages of the tournament.
