ucknow Super Giants had a tough time in their league match against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. They were heavily beaten in the first innings and were set a challenging target of 218 runs to chase.
To add to their troubles, their middle-order batting faltered, dampening their hopes of securing a second consecutive win. Despite the setback, the team found solace in the exceptional bowling performance of Ravi Bishnoi, who claimed three wickets, and the destructive batting display by West Indian players Nicholas Pooran and Kyle Mayers. Although Mayers’ contribution of 53 runs off 22 deliveries was more valuable, it was Pooran’s unbelievable six that stole the limelight and was the highlight of the game.
When Ravindra Jadeja took the ball for the first time in the day in the 15th over, the situation looked bleak for Lucknow with 82 runs still required. However, Pooran rose to the occasion and delivered an extraordinary shot.
Jadeja delivered a full ball outside off-stump, aiming for the field, but Pooran quickly switched his stance to prepare a powerful slog hit over the traditional point region. He connected with the ball perfectly, sending it soaring 91 meters away into the third deck of the Chepauk stands.
Even though Lucknow did not win the match, the shot was unanimously hailed as the “shot of the day” by each & every cricket fan. It was an unforgettable moment, particularly in a game where over 400 runs were scored.
