Amit Mishra, who was one of the standout performers in the early years of the Indian Premier League (IPL), made a strong comeback on Friday during Match 10 of the ongoing tournament while playing for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
The 40-year-old’s impressive figures of 4-0-23-2 with the ball caught the eye, but it was his outstanding fielding effort during the 18th over of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) innings that drew the most attention.
On the second ball of the 18th over, Yash Thakur delivered a shortish length delivery that Rahul Tripathi attempted to loft over the short third man. However, he failed to make a clean connection, and Mishra, positioned at the short third region, dived to his left at full stretch to take an excellent catch.
Mishra’s teammates and fans on Twitter were delighted with his spectacular fielding display, proving that age is just a number.
Notably, with two latest wickets, Mishra is nearing Lasith Malinga’s tally of 170 IPL wickets. Mishra is currently fourth on the all-time list, having taken 168 scalps from 155 matches. Apart from Malinga, only DJ Bravo (183) and Yuzvendra Chahal (171) have taken more wickets than him across seasons.
