Despite boasting a star-studded lineup, Mumbai Indians (MI) could only manage a below-par total of 157/8 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Match 12 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at Wankhede Stadium.
With Jofra Archer absent, MI needed someone to step up and defend the target. However, in the early stages of CSK’s innings, none of the MI players seemed to do so. Surprisingly, it was a security guard who caught everyone’s attention and did her part as much as she could.
As Jason Behendroff prepared to bowl his third ball of the opening over to Devon Conway, the latter moved away after noticing the security guard running beside the sight screen.
This was understandable as batting in front of a large crowd requires immense concentration, and Behendroff was aware of this too, reloading without any complaints. However, the security guard briefly stole the limelight by doing her job.
As it turned out, her move worked, as Conway, who had scored 47 runs in the previous encounter, was dismissed for a duck. Twitterati also joined in to praise her, albeit in a comical manner.
