WATCH : ‘Dhoni Dhoni’ chants boom Chinnaswamy Stadium, Anushka Sharma admits ‘they love him’

Anushka Sharma, wife of the ex-captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Virat Kohli, was seen supporting RCB from the stands during their IPL match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday evening. As she enjoys a significant fan base, the camera frequently captured glimpses of her during the match, and these clips have been circulating on various social media platforms.

Among all the videos, the one that has gained significant attention and is extensively circulating on social media is Anushka Sharma’s reaction to the enthusiastic welcome of MS Dhoni at her husband’s home ground.

This incident took place with just two balls left in the CSK innings, when the crowd at the Chinnaswamy Stadium went wild and gave the loudest cheer as the opposition captain stepped onto the crease. In the video, Anushka Sharma can be seen smiling and commenting to her companions sitting next to her, “They adore him.”

After being asked to bat first, CSK set a massive target of 226/6 in their 20 overs with MS Dhoni scoring a single off his first ball. Devon Conway was the top scorer for CSK with 83 runs off 45 deliveries, but he was dismissed by Harshal Patel’s yorker. Ajinkya Rahane and Shivam Dube provided solid support for the second and third wicket respectively, with Rahane smashing 37 runs off 20 balls and Dube scoring 52 runs off 27 balls.

RCB suffered an early setback in the run chase when Virat Kohli got out in a rather unlucky manner – the ball took an inside edge, hit his shoe, and then hit the stumps, dislodging a bail in the process. In the next over, RCB lost another wicket, but it also saw a rare missed opportunity from MS Dhoni, who failed to take a straightforward catch behind the stumps, which could have sent Faf du Plessis back to the pavilion with a duck.

Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell capitalized on the early let-off and inflicted more damage on CSK, making their massive target of 227 seem easily achievable. The duo put up a brilliant partnership of 126 runs in just 61 balls, but unfortunately, they both got dismissed towards the end of the innings.

Maxwell was the first to depart, mistiming his shot and giving a simple catch to MS Dhoni, who appeared to have shaky hands before finally holding on to the ball. Du Plessis followed suit, getting out in a similar fashion, albeit to a different bowler. With only Dinesh Karthik as a reliable finisher in the middle order, RCB could only manage to score 218/8, falling short of the target by eight runs in a high-scoring encounter.
