WATCH : Mind game by MS Dhoni to dismiss Rohit Sharma

The toss was won by MS Dhoni, who elected to bowl first. Mumbai Indians had a terrible start with Rohit Sharma opting to open with Cameron Green ahead of Ishan Kishan, which proved to be an unsuccessful experiment.

Tushar Deshpande dismissed Green in the second over, and in the following over, Deepak Chahar took out both Ishan and Rohit, with the latter getting his fourth single-digit score this season and second consecutive duck.

Prior to the match, Rohit had mentioned during the toss that Tilak Varma was out due to an injury, and Tristan Stubbs replaced him. Rohit Sharma has now scored four single-digit scores in a row, with his latest innings resulting in his second consecutive duck. During the fifth ball of his innings, Dhoni had come up to the stumps, and Rohit attempted a shot that was completely out of character for him.

He tried to scoop a good length delivery on middle and off, but the shot was a complete mess. The ball flicked the shoulder of his bat, grazed his glove, and appeared to hit his helmet before looping towards Jadeja in front of short third man.

The Super Kings, led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, lost both matches to the five-time champions in 2019 and will play against their rivals at home for the first time in nearly four years. After a rain-affected fixture against LSG and two losses, CSK enters Saturday’s game.
