WATCH : Rahmanullah Gurbaz wasted DRS despite Jason Roy’s warning

In their match against Punjab Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders continued to struggle with their opening pair, as once again, their openers failed to last until the end of the powerplay.

However, things got worse for the team as they not only suffered an early dismissal but also lost a review due to a communication error on the field.

In the fifth over, Rahmanullah Gurbaz was facing Nathan Ellis and attempted to charge down the track on the fourth delivery. Gurbaz’s attempted flick missed the ball completely, and the back-of-the-hand slower ball deceived him, resulting in the ball hitting his pads and the umpire immediately raising his finger.

However, Gurbaz was unconvinced by the decision and sought his batting partner’s opinion. Across the pitch, Roy patted his bat, indicating that Gurbaz had not nicked the ball. Despite this, the wicket-keeper batter signaled for a DRS, and Gurbaz went through with the action.

The replays confirmed the umpire’s decision, and Gurbaz had to leave the field. The Twitter community was quick to blame Gurbaz for his hasty decision despite having ample time left on the timer, and many expressed their opinions on social media.
