On Friday, Suryakumar Yadav guided Mumbai Indians to a victory over defending champions Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL), scoring his maiden century in the league. With the win, MI took a significant step towards qualifying for the playoffs.

Suryakumar played a spectacular innings, hitting 11 fours and 6 sixes, including a stunning cover drive where he opened the face of the bat at the right moment, sending the ball over the third-man fielder for a six. Even Sachin Tendulkar was seen on camera trying to figure out Suryakumar’s technique.

After being invited to bat first, MI posted a huge total of 218 for five on the back of Suryakumar’s unbeaten 103 off just 49 balls. In response, Gujarat managed to score 191/8, with Rashid Khan top-scoring with an unbeaten 79 off 32 deliveries.

Akash Madhwal, the ‘Impact Player,’ took three wickets for Mumbai, while spinners Piyush Chawla and Kumar Kartikeya snared two wickets each.

In the first innings, Ishan Kishan and Vishnu Vinod contributed 31 and 30 runs, respectively, for Mumbai. Rashid was the pick of the Gujarat Titans’ bowlers, taking four wickets for 30 runs.
