India bounced back from their loss in the World Test Championship final with a commanding start to the Test series against West Indies. Opting to bowl first, West Indies faced the wrath of India’s spin duo, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.
Initially, West Indies’ opening pair, Kraigg Brathwaite and Tagenarine Chanderpaul, displayed resilience. However, once Ashwin dismissed Chanderpaul, the floodgates opened. Ashwin proved to be an enigma for the West Indies batsmen, claiming five wickets for 60 runs.
Jadeja provided excellent support, taking three wickets, resulting in West Indies being bundled out for a meager total of 150. In response, Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal showcased their dominance over the Caribbean bowlers.
They led the Indian team to an impressive score of 80/0 by the end of the day’s play. Rohit remained unbeaten on 30 runs, while Yashasvi, making his debut, held his ground with a notable score of 40 runs.
