Corey Anderson, the former New Zealand all-rounder, recently shared his experiences of playing against some of the toughest opponents during his international career. According to Anderson, bowling to the explosive batsman Chris Gayle was nothing short of a nightmare, while facing the formidable deliveries of Dale Steyn proved to be the most challenging task for him as a batter.
Representing the New Zealand team from 2012 to 2018, Anderson participated in 13 Test matches, 49 ODIs, and 31 T20Is. He showcased his skills in various prestigious tournaments such as the ICC Champions Trophy 2013, T20 World Cup 2014, ODI World Cup 2015, T20 World Cup 2016, and Champions Trophy 2017, while proudly donning the Blackcaps jersey.
Throughout his illustrious international career, Corey Anderson encountered numerous world-class players on the field. In an exclusive interview with Swagcricket, the former New Zealand star was asked to divulge the names of the most formidable opponents he faced as both a batter and a bowler.
Reflecting on his experiences, Anderson remarked, “Fortunately, Dale Steyn, a legend of the game, has retired. However, he was an immensely challenging opponent to contend with. Similarly, Chris Gayle, who has also retired, proved to be an intimidating force to bowl against. Trying to execute a plan against someone with such incredible power was no easy feat.”
Delving into the statistics, it was revealed that Anderson faced 16 deliveries from Dale Steyn and was dismissed thrice. On the other hand, he bowled just six balls to Chris Gayle, who managed to score six runs off those deliveries at an impressive strike rate of 100.
