Rishabh Pant Facing 140kph-plus Deliveries in NCA Nets

As the Indian cricket team prepares for the upcoming Asia Cup and ICC World Cup 2023, some of its key players are diligently working on regaining their fitness at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

Among them are Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna, who have completed their rehabilitation and are set to showcase their fitness in the upcoming Ireland tour, which includes 3 T20Is. KL Rahul, the batter, has also made a successful recovery and reports suggest that he might be available for selection in the Asia Cup 2023.

Another prominent cricketer currently at the NCA is wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, who is surprisingly recovering faster than anticipated. The 25-year-old had suffered a serious car accident in December last year, which kept him out of action. However, recent reports indicate that his recovery has been remarkable, and he has even begun batting in the nets.

RevSports has reported that Pant has progressed from facing throwdowns to confronting faster deliveries in the nets. While he has also resumed wicketkeeping, more intense and rapid body movements are still a work in progress.

An official report from the BCCI on July 21 confirmed Pant’s positive rehabilitation progress. He has resumed both batting and keeping in the nets while following a well-designed fitness program focused on strength, flexibility, and running.

Similarly, the report also touched upon Shreyas Iyer’s recovery. The batter has started batting in the nets and is currently undergoing strength and fitness training. The BCCI Medical Team is content with their progress and plans to further intensify their skills and conditioning.

However, a recent report by the Times of India suggested that Iyer might miss the Asia Cup due to persisting back problems, despite having undergone surgery. An official statement from the Indian cricket board is awaited to confirm his condition.
