Prithvi Shaw, overlooked by the Indian selectors for both the West Indies tour and the upcoming Asian Games, chose a different path to reclaim his spot in the national cricket team. He signed up with Northamptonshire in London to participate in the Royal London One-Day Cup. Unfortunately, his debut did not go according to plan as he got out in a rather unusual manner.
During the Group B match between Gloucestershire and Northamptonshire in the 2023 England Domestic One-Day Cup, Shaw made his debut for Northants. However, the Indian batsman, who has fallen out of favor, struggled to find his rhythm and lost his wicket to a bouncer.
The dismissal occurred on the last ball of the 16th over when Shaw couldn’t handle a bouncer from Paul van Meekeren. While attempting a pull shot, he lost his balance and accidentally kicked the stumps as he fell to the ground.
It’s worth noting that Prithvi Shaw’s last appearance for the Indian cricket team was in 2021. He was part of the squad for the T20I series against Sri Lanka but didn’t get a chance in the playing XI. Shaw had a difficult time in the 2023 Indian Premier League for Delhi Capitals, leading to his mid-season removal from the team.

Before starting his county stint, Prithvi Shaw mentioned that he doesn’t believe it’s the right time to make significant changes to his game. He asserted that any necessary adjustments have already been made, and once he settles in, he plans to play his natural game.
