WATCH : Mohammad Rizwan played part in a mix-up that cost Pakistan a run-out opportunity

During the initial One Day International (ODI) clash between Pakistan and Afghanistan, the former encountered batting difficulties, mustering a modest total of 201 runs within 47.1 overs. To salvage their reputation, Pakistan relied on their formidable pace attack, which, as expected, came through in the form of their opening bowlers.

Within a mere span of 21 deliveries, three Afghan batsmen found themselves making their way back to the pavilion, suggesting Pakistan’s determination to transform a challenging scenario into a competitive game.

The specific occurrence unfolded when Naseem Shah bowled the fifth ball of the fourth over. Ikram, facing the delivery, opted for a fuller shot and attempted to secure a single. Unfortunately for him, Fakhar Zaman at the cover position grasped the ball.

In the midst of this, Ikram realized his vulnerability, as he had already advanced halfway down the pitch and was signaled to retreat by his partner Gurbaz stationed at the non-striker’s end. Capitalizing on this fleeting opportunity, Fakhar considered a sprint to the stumps in a bid to execute a run-out.

However, while in the midst of his dash, the Pakistani cricketer altered his course of action, opting to hurl the ball towards the stumps. Regrettably, his direct hit missed the target, further complicating matters as Rizwan, the wicketkeeper, was unable to capitalize on the chance either.
