This continental tournament stands as the immediate task for Team India, marking the beginning of a packed season that encompasses two significant 50-over format events, including the impending World Cup 2023.
Ahead of this prestigious tournament, eminent Indian cricketers such as Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma engaged with fans and the media at the airport before departing for the team’s training camp in Alur, Bengaluru.
It’s worth highlighting that the Indian cricket team is scheduled to conduct a training camp there, commencing on August 24, before embarking on a journey to Sri Lanka, where they will compete in all their Asia Cup fixtures.
As per reliable sources, the comprehensive five-day training camp will encompass the complete Asia Cup 2023 squad of India, under the guidance of the coaching staff led by former Indian captain Rahul Dravid, in addition to the members of the recently appointed selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar. Furthermore, the inclusion of 14 net bowlers has been orchestrated to ensure the maintenance of a high standard during practice sessions.
During a press conference following the unveiling of the Asia Cup squad, Rohit Sharma conveyed his enthusiasm for the rare opportunity to engage in skill-oriented training with the entire team. He articulated: “We have a 5-day camp in Bengaluru. After quite some time, we are fortunate to have all the players gathered for skill-focused training. This provides us with a chance to rectify our weaknesses.”
