WATCH : Kieron Pollard hits 4 100-meter sixes in a row in CPL 2023

In the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL), the 12th match featured a showdown between Trinbago Knight Riders and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. Led by Kieron Pollard, the Knight Riders secured a notable victory, chasing down a target of 179 runs set by their opponents with six wickets in hand and 17.1 overs to spare.

The standout performance came from Nicholas Pooran, who blazed his way to 61 runs off 32 balls. However, it was Pollard, the team’s captain, who also left spectators in awe with his unbeaten 37-run contribution, marked by some astonishing hits.

In the 15th over of the innings, Pollard unleashed a display of power by hitting four consecutive sixes against spinner Izharulhaq Naveed. What made this feat even more remarkable was the fact that each of these sixes traveled beyond 100 meters.

At the commencement of the over, Pollard had scored a mere three runs from six balls, but he swiftly changed the game’s course by dismantling the 19-year-old bowler. The second delivery soared over the boundary, followed by three successive sixes on the remaining balls, all soaring beyond the 100-meter mark.

This particular over proved to be a pivotal turning point as it yielded a total of 28 runs for the Knight Riders. Prior to this over, the team required 59 runs from 36 balls, and the Patriots were still very much in contention. However, Pollard’s remarkable onslaught in the 15th over effectively shifted the balance, ultimately propelling his team across the finish line in the 18th over of the innings.

The match also etched history as Sunil Narine became the first cricketer ever to receive a red card in the sport. New regulations introduced in this CPL season concerning over-rates led to a situation where Trinbago Knight Riders delayed the commencement of their final over during the innings.

Consequently, the umpires had to remove a player from the fielding side, and Narine bore the brunt during the closing over. Despite this incident, Narine’s exceptional performance earlier in the game stood out, as he finished with impressive figures of 3/24.
