Experienced Indian wicketkeeper-batsman, Dinesh Karthik, demonstrated his wit when faced with an unconventional question from a user, who inquired about his marriage prediction. In response, Karthik humorously pointed out that he can make predictions about cricket matches, but not about matters of matchmaking.
Leading up to Team India’s opening match in the 2023 World Cup against Australia at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium, the local hero, Karthik, shared an image of the Chepauk pitch and forecasted that it would offer turn. He also expressed confidence in Ravindra Jadeja’s performance, stating:
“This pitch will definitely assist spin. Jadeja is going to have an exceptional day today 😊👍😉.”
In a playful exchange, a user posted a cheeky comment, asking, “DK bhai, please tell me when I will get married 😍.” In a lighthearted manner, Karthik responded to the user, saying, “Brother, I can predict about the match… but not about matchmaking.”
Meanwhile, Karthik’s predictions regarding the pitch and Jadeja’s performance proved accurate. Australia won the toss and chose to bat first in the 2023 World Cup match. However, the Australian batsmen faced significant difficulties, particularly against spin. They were eventually bowled out for 199 runs in 49.3 overs, with Jadeja shining with figures of 3/28 from his 10 overs.
Jadeja dismissed key Australian batsmen Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, and Alex Carey, putting Australia on the defensive. Kuldeep Yadav (2/42) and Jasprit Bumrah (2/35) also delivered commendable performances with the ball.
