WATCH : Starc’s deadly yorker crashes past Miller in spectacular last over

In the World Cup showdown between Australia and South Africa at Ekana Cricket Stadium, the Aussies won the toss and chose to take the field first.

The Proteas’ captain, Temba Bavuma, and Quinton de Kock formed a strong opening partnership, amassing 108 runs before de Kock notched his second consecutive century in the World Cup.

This set the stage for the African team to explode in the final overs, but Mitchell Starc had different plans. The Australian speedster, who had earlier dropped a straightforward catch off David Miller, much to the dismay of his captain Pat Cummins, exacted his revenge with a deadly yorker that demolished the leg stump.

Miller had been gearing up for a big shot over midwicket in an open batting stance, but Starc anticipated his intentions and delivered a perfect delivery right on his legs. The cricket ball landed precisely in the blockhole, leaving Miller with no room for escape, and illuminated the stumps as Starc jubilantly celebrated his success.

In the same over, Starc also dismissed Marco Jansen and gave away just one run, courtesy of a leg-bye. This outstanding performance limited South Africa to a total of 311 runs.
