WATCH : Kusal Mendis and Tanzim Hasan Sakib involved in a verbal fight

Bangladesh made the choice to field first as they faced Sri Lanka at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Monday. The Sri Lankan team encountered a shaky start, losing Kusal Perera in the very first over. However, Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis managed to stabilize the Sri Lankan innings and steer it back on course.

While both batsmen were engaged in a battle against the Bangladeshi fast bowlers, Mendis found himself in a heated exchange with Tanzim.

In the 11th over, on the third ball, Tanzim delivered a well-pitched ball just outside the off stump, and Mendis narrowly missed making contact with the ball. Tanzim expressed his frustration about the effort and, in the heat of the moment, engaged in a dispute with the Sri Lankan captain.

Eventually, umpire Marais Erasmus had to intervene and request the bowler to maintain his composure. On the subsequent delivery, the right-arm fast bowler sent another well-pitched ball into the uncertain area, and Mendis attempted a shot.

Fortunately for the batsman, the thick outside edge sent the ball wide of the wicket-keeper and it raced away to the boundary. A fired-up Tanzim continued the verbal exchange with the Sri Lankan wicket-keeper-batsman as the tensions flared on the field.
