David Warner Injured, Glenn Maxwell called up as cover

The Australian vice-captain David Warner met with an injury just ahead the first test match of the Ashes series against England. The all-rounder cricketer Glenn Maxwell is included in the squad as the backup.

However, the Australian skipper Steven Smith confident about the recovery of David Warner just ahead of the Gabba Test. David Warner injured his neck during a training session while taking a high catch.

Steven Smith said,”As I said, Davey’s confident that he’ll be OK. Davey is going well. He had a hit just before and he’s very confident. He said he’ll be right to go. He’ll be okay. It’s part and parcel of playing cricket.”

“Guys have injuries now and then. You have little niggles and he’s confident that he’ll be okay. He said he’ll even bat like Shivnarine Chanderpaul if he has to bat that way. So I think he’ll be all right,” he added.

The Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell played only seven Test matches so far, but he is capable to grab the chance. The first test match of the Ashes series is starting from the November 23 in Brisbane.
