During the recent Big Bash League (BBL) 2023 showdown between Melbourne Stars (MLS) and Sydney Sixers (SYS) at Sydney Cricket Ground on December 26th, MLS skipper Glenn Maxwell showcased his power by smashing a colossal six.
In the midst of the seventh over in the second innings, Maxwell fiercely struck a length delivery from Sydney pacer Jackson Bird, propelling the ball high into the sky.
The impressive shot soared approximately 92 meters before making contact with the roof of the stands on the leg side, eventually landing amidst the crowd. However, Maxwell’s aggressive approach led to his dismissal on the subsequent delivery, courtesy of Bird.
Despite his quick exit, Melbourne Stars triumphed in the chase, securing victory by reaching the target of 155 runs in 19.3 overs. The IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) delighted fans by sharing the video clip of Maxwell’s incredible six on their social media platform.
Their caption humorously hinted at the ball’s trajectory possibly heading toward the moon, highlighting the phenomenal hit. In recent news, Maxwell affirmed his commitment to continue participating in the IPL until his final playing years.
That one looked like it was on its way to colonise the moon…. almost!
