WATCH : Virat Kohli convinces Rohit Sharma for DRS to dismiss Kyle Verrennye

Virat Kohli, a key figure for Team India, played a pivotal role in persuading captain Rohit Sharma to opt for a crucial DRS during the Boxing Day Test against South Africa. This strategic decision led to a breakthrough moment for the team, dismissing Kyle Verreynne.

On the second day of the match, KL Rahul’s exceptional century earlier in the day helped India reach a respectable total of 245 runs by the first session on December 27. However, South Africa seized control in the subsequent sessions, holding an advantage as the match progressed to Day 3.

In his farewell series, Dean Elgar showcased his batting prowess by crafting an outstanding unbeaten 140 runs from 211 deliveries. His exceptional innings largely propelled the hosts to claim an 11-run lead by stumps. Supported by David Bedingham (56) and Tony de Zorzi (28), Elgar inflicted significant pressure on the Indian bowling attack.

During the final session, debutant pacer Prasidh Krishna managed to get an edge off South African wicket-keeper Kyle Verreynne’s bat, which was skillfully caught by KL Rahul behind the stumps. Despite the loud appeal by the Indian team, the on-field umpire dismissed the appeal.

Virat Kohli, positioned in the slips, swiftly signaled to Rohit Sharma, encouraging him to opt for a DRS review. Subsequently, the third umpire, after observing the snickometer, overturned the decision, ruling the batter out.
