After posting a formidable total of 158/5, Afghanistan sought to make a strong start in their bowling innings. Their wish was granted in the second ball of the first over, thanks to a miscommunication between Rohit Sharma and Shubhman Gill.

Rohit advanced down the pitch, played the ball on the half-volley, and sent it towards mid-off. The Kookaburra was on its way until Ibrahim Zadran’s impressive dive halted its progress.

Meanwhile, Shubman Gill was engrossed in watching the ball, unaware of Rohit running to the opposite end. Despite the captain’s insistence, the young counterpart declined, leaving Rohit and Shubhman Gill at the same end.

This confusion led to Rohit exiting the field, visibly frustrated, and expressing his displeasure with Gill’s careless play, which had caused the mix-up between the two batsmen.
