WATCH : Rohit Sharma’s hilarious banter after umpire denies him off the mark

After securing victory in the three-match series in Indore, Indian cricket maestro Rohit Sharma aimed to test their batting skills by inviting the opposing team to field first at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Despite not having scored any runs in the ongoing series and questioning the umpire’s decision in the first over, Rohit Sharma, the captain, was ready to face Afghan pacer Fareed Malik in the second delivery.

Yashasvi Jaiswal opened the scoring with the first ball of the match, and Rohit, determined to face Fareed Malik, attempted to flick a good length delivery down the leg stump line. Despite the ball racing to the boundary ropes off the inside edge of the bat, umpire Virender Sharma mistakenly signaled a leg-bye four.

Initially unaware of the situation, Rohit questioned the umpire at the end of the over in a casual tone. The stump mic captured Rohit asking whether the official had signaled the boundary off the thigh pad, as the scoreboard still showed him yet to score. The Indian captain also mentioned his previous dismissals for zero in the first two T20Is.

“Arey Viru, thigh pad diya kiya pehla ball. Arey itna bada bat laga yaar. Ek toh already 2 baar 0 pe out hua.” Rohit’s laid-back way of questioning the umpire added to the charm of the Indian skipper, creating a buzz on Twitter.
