Renowned for his sense of humor, Axar Patel added another comedic touch to the BCCI Naman Awards on Tuesday when queried about his strategies for the upcoming Test series against England.
In a light-hearted manner, Axar declared it a top-secret matter, playfully refusing to disclose details, citing the presence of Brendon McCullum, England’s Test coach, in the audience. He quipped, “It is top secret. I am not revealing right now before the series is coming in a few days. Aapne hi bola McCullum saamne baitha hai (you only said McCullum is paying attention) (laughs).”
Axar Patel was honored with the Best International Debut (Men) award for the 2020-21 season, having dismantled the England batting line-up in the Test series.
Across three games, he claimed an impressive 27 wickets at an astonishing average of 10.59, establishing himself as a formidable threat to the visiting team once again.

In the previous Test series, England succumbed to a 3-1 defeat in India, primarily attributed to their batters’ struggles on turning tracks. Despite criticism about the pitch conditions not aligning with the spirit of the game, Indian players maintained their stance, asserting their right to create pitches that favor them at home.
