During the opening day of the first Test against India in Hyderabad, England’s wicket-keeper, Ben Foakes, unintentionally created a humorous incident.
The mishap occurred when Indian captain Rohit Sharma played a shot off Mark Wood’s inswinger, opening his score with the first ball of the third over. A misdirected throw from the deep prompted Foakes to sprint to prevent potential overthrows.
Regrettably, Foakes, with his focus on the ball, stumbled over the stumps while attempting to retrieve the throw, causing all three stumps to topple to the ground. This amusing incident elicited smiles from both his teammates and on-air commentators.
Despite the lighthearted moment, Foakes’ return to international cricket was not marked by memorable performances. Struggling with the bat in England’s first innings, he managed only a challenging four runs off 24 deliveries.

His challenging stint at the crease concluded when left-arm spinner Axar Patel dismissed him. The 30-year-old had previously played for England in their tour of New Zealand in February of the previous year.
