WATCH : Ricky Ponting predicts the wicket and Carey gone

In the ongoing Test match between Australia and the West Indies at the Gabba, Ricky Ponting once again showcased his prophetic abilities. The esteemed Australian captain accurately predicted the method of dismissal for keeper-batsman Alex Carey in the second innings, just moments before it occurred.

At the time of his dismissal, Carey was playing an impressive innings at 65 (48), showcasing a remarkable counter-attacking style. Ponting, providing commentary, observed that Carey’s aggressive approach, with his eyes “spinning a bit,” needed a more defensive strategy from the Windies.

Responding to Ponting’s insight, Shamar Joseph delivered a length ball in the middle, which Carey pulled directly into the hands of the deep square leg fielder. This wicket proved crucial for the West Indies, considering they had the hosts struggling at 54/5 earlier.

However, Carey and Usman Khawaja had managed to construct a significant 146-run partnership, bringing Australia back into contention. Carey had a stroke of luck earlier in the innings when he survived a clean-bowled attempt by Shamar. Despite the ball hitting the top of the off-stump, the bails somehow stayed in the groove.

Following Carey’s dismissal, the West Indies continued their momentum by claiming Mitchell Starc’s wicket just before Tea, leaving Australia at seven wickets down and trailing by 150 runs at the break.
