David Warner’s decision to set a target for Dubai Capitals took a disastrous turn as their batting lineup crumbled without resilience. Rahmanullah Gurbaaz fell early to Mark Watt’s impressive delivery, breaking an initial partnership of 12.
Ben Dunk then succumbed to Daniel Sams, leaving the powerplay score at 32/2. Despite a brief 17-run partnership between Warner and Dunk, it turned out to be the highest of the innings, with only two players surpassing 20 runs.
Warner fell victim to a remarkable catch by Niroshan Dickwella, and Maheesh Theekshana dismissed Sam Billings and Max Holden in three deliveries. Theekshana and Sams went on to claim more wickets, including Caribbean duo Jason Holder and Rovman Powell.
Roelof van der Werme’s aggressive 21 from 14 deliveries was halted by Sams, and Sikandar Raza’s patient 22 runs off 25 balls couldn’t withstand the Australian’s prowess. The Capitals were eventually bowled out for 104, with Theekshana and Sams finishing with outstanding figures of 4/20 and 3/28 respectively.

The chase was a mere formality for the opposition, as Dickwella and Johnson Charles secured victory with an opening stand of 70. After Dickwella’s dismissal for 37, Charles partnered with Joe Denly (23) to guide their team to a second consecutive win and third overall in the season. The victory was sealed on the first ball of the 14th over, making the chase appear effortless for the triumphant side.
