WATCH : Ishant Sharma demolishes stumps with corker sending Russell packing

The Visakhapatnam crowd witnessed an extraordinary display of batting prowess as the openers of the Kolkata Knight Riders, Phil Salt and Sunil Narine, propelled their team to a remarkable 58/0 within the initial three overs.

After Salt’s departure, Narine took charge of KKR’s batting alongside Angkrish Raghuvanshi, orchestrating a splendid 104-run partnership and guiding their team to 164/2 in just 12.2 overs.

However, the Delhi Capitals found some respite by dismissing both Narine and Raghuvanshi in the 13th and 14th overs respectively. Yet, Kolkata’s run-scoring momentum persisted as their power hitters, Rinku Singh and Andre Russell, posed a menacing threat, driving the score to 264/5 by the 19th over, marking it as the second-highest total in IPL history.

However, their quest to surpass Sunrisers Hyderabad’s record of 277 runs was thwarted by Delhi’s Ishant Sharma, who delivered a sublime yorker to dismiss Russell, batting at an astonishing strike rate of 215.

On the first ball of the 20th over, Ishant executed a precise yorker to the experienced Jamaican. Despite Russell’s attempt to defend, he succumbed to the accuracy of the delivery, resulting in the destruction of his stumps and his subsequent tumble to the ground.

However, upon rising from the turf, Russell acknowledged Ishant’s masterful delivery with a fist bump onto his bat as he made his way back to the pavilion.
