Following a delayed start due to rain in Jaipur, the Gujarat Titans’ captain, Shubman Gill, won the toss and elected to field first. This proved to be a wise decision as the visitors quickly dismissed Rajasthan opener Yashasvi Jaiswal in the fifth over.
Rajasthan’s troubles continued as they lost Buttler in the sixth over. Despite the setbacks, with Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag at the crease, the home team reached 43/2 by the end of the powerplay.
While Gujarat’s bowlers were hunting for more wickets, a moment of poor fielding by the Gujarat fielders led to extra runs for Rajasthan.
In the ninth over’s final delivery, Noor Ahmad bowled a length ball to Samson, who tried to defend it. However, an outside edge of the bat sent the ball speeding towards the backward point fielder. Meanwhile, Sai Sudharsan, stationed there, attempted a throw to the bowler’s end, but the 19-year-old Afghan spinner failed to gather it.

Mohit Sharma, rushing in from mid-off, tried to intercept but fumbled, allowing the ball to escape to the boundary line. This unfortunate sequence resulted in five runs for Rajasthan Royals, much to the disappointment of the Gujarat contingent, who had displayed lackluster performance in the field.
