Winning the rain-delayed toss and opting to field first, Australia struck early in the opening over, thanks to a stunning delivery from Mitchell Starc.

Brought into the side after missing the Scotland game, Starc made an immediate impact with late movement, dismissing Tanzid Hasan, who couldn’t get his bat down in time.

Starc started with a yorker outside off, followed by a low full-toss. He then bowled a fuller delivery that swung away from the left-handed Tanzid, who was late to get behind the line.

The ball clipped the inside edge and cannoned into the stumps, resulting in an early breakthrough for Australia. Tanzid, who departed for a bronze duck, was visibly dejected.

This wicket allowed Starc to surpass Sri Lankan legend Lasith Malinga as the leading wicket-taker in World Cup events across T20 and ODI formats. The Twitterverse, familiar with Starc’s brilliance with the new ball, erupted with reactions to his masterful display.
