Winning the toss and electing to field first worked well for the home side, as Gus Atkinson’s seven-fer helped them bundle West Indies out for 121 in the first innings.
In reply, most English batters fared well, with four of their top five scoring half-centuries. Although Gudakesh Motie pegged them back at the cusp of the morning session, Jamie Smith and Chris Woakes were determined not to throw away their wickets after lunch.
This prompted the West Indies captain to summon Shamar Joseph with the old ball, but as luck would have it, the pacer suffered a hamstring injury halfway through the session.
Following four dot balls to start the 76th over, Shamar was seen holding his left hamstring in agony while returning for his run-up. As the pain intensified, the physio hurried onto the field to assess the situation.

During this event, the spider cam hovered above the group surrounding Shamar, which seemed to disturb Jason Holder. The all-rounder tried to shoo the camera away and then playfully used his cap to block the view of the injured bowler, causing a buzz on Twitter.
