Recently, Suryakumar Yadav, the captain of India’s T20I team, had fans laughing when he recreated the popular ‘Paani’ scene featuring Rajpal Yadav from the film Bhool Bhulaiyaa. His playful take on the scene, shared on social media, received widespread approval from his cricketing followers.
In the video posted on his official Instagram account, Suryakumar is seen walking in the rain with the Bhool Bhulaiyaa soundtrack playing in the background. He jumps in sync with the iconic ‘Paani’ dialogue, much to the delight of his fans.
Suryakumar’s first stint as India’s T20I captain was a success, as his team swept Sri Lanka 3-0 in their recent series. Despite not featuring in India’s subsequent ODI games, he is set to participate in the 17th Duleep Trophy, having been selected for Team C.
Eager to make his mark in all three formats of the game, Suryakumar is focused on performing well in red-ball domestic matches to earn a recall from the national selectors. He is also taking part in the Buchi Babu tournament, where he will be playing for Mumbai in their match against Jammu and Kashmir in Coimbatore, starting August 28.
In an interview with The Indian Express, Suryakumar shared his plans: “I will be playing in the Buchi Babu tournament. It will provide good practice ahead of the domestic season. I’ll join the team after August 25. I’m always available to play for Mumbai and my club team whenever I’m free.”
So far, Suryakumar Yadav has played just one Test match in his career. He made his debut against Australia in February 2023, but was dismissed after scoring only eight runs. Nonetheless, he remains determined to prove himself in the longer format.
