WATCH : Explosive India make light work of paltry chase as Tigers crumble in opening T20I

Asked to bat first, Bangladesh stumbled out of the gates at the Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium. Litton Das skied a delivery from Arshdeep on the fifth ball of the match, giving India their first breakthrough.

His young opening partner, Parvez Hossain Emon, attempted to assert himself with a six off Hardik Pandya in the second over but soon fell to an inside edge off Arshdeep in the next over, shifting momentum back to the Men in Blue.

Captain Suryakumar Yadav took advantage of the situation, bringing in Varun Chakravarthy, making his return to the Indian side after three years, for the penultimate over of the powerplay. The mystery spinner nearly made an impact with his second delivery, but debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy misjudged it at the boundary.

Towhid Hridoy and Najmul Hossain Shanto capitalized, scoring 15 runs in that over. However, the other debutant, Mayank Yadav, quickly restored order with a remarkable maiden over, leaving the score at 39/2 after six overs.

The pressure mounted as Towhid and Mahmudullah fell to Varun and Mayank respectively, while Varun’s brilliant off-break sent Jaker Ali back to the pavilion, leaving Bangladesh in dire straits at 64/5 by the halfway mark.

Shanto, watching from the other end, attempted to stabilize the innings with a steady 27 but was dismayed when he chipped a catch to Washington Sundar in the 12th over.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz took on the rescuing duties, first partnering with Rishad Hossain for 15 runs off Mayank, and later guiding Taskin Ahmed in a 23-run partnership. However, once Taskin was run out, the innings quickly unraveled, ending at 127 with Miraz remaining unbeaten on 35.

In response, the Men in Blue launched a spirited chase. Sanju Samson hit two boundaries in the opening over, while Abhishek Sharma added a six and two fours in the second before falling victim to a mix-up after a quick-fire 16 off seven balls.

Despite this setback, Samson and Suryakumar continued to dominate, with Suryakumar smashing Taskin for 14 runs through the leg side in an exciting battle. The skipper added another six before hitting a Mustafizur Rahman delivery straight to square leg, concluding his entertaining 14-ball cameo and taking the powerplay score to an imposing 71/2.

Rishad Hossain managed to claim another consolation wicket by having Samson caught at deep midwicket for 29. However, Pandya and Nitish quickly wrapped up the chase, with Pandya hitting the winning runs with two boundaries and a six in the 13th over.
