WATCH : Pant’s audacious reverse hit off Boland sparks a hug of respect from Gill

At the Adelaide Oval, local hero Travis Head continued his remarkable form, leading Australia with an explosive 140 off 141 balls against the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team.

Head’s innings was supported by Marnus Labuschagne, who made a solid 64 off 126 balls, and together they helped Australia post a total of 337 runs. Indian pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj were the standout bowlers, each claiming four wickets in the innings.

In reply, India’s openers, Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul, started cautiously, reaching 12/0 in three overs. However, both were dismissed within the first 10 overs, leaving Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill to rebuild.

Kohli’s dismissal in the 15th over further weakened India’s middle order, putting the onus on Rishabh Pant. Pant rose to the challenge with an extraordinary shot that left the crowd and Gill in awe.

On the third ball of the 17th over, Scott Boland bowled a short, wide delivery outside off stump. Pant was quick to position himself and executed a switch hit with perfect timing. He lofted the ball over the slip fielders, sending it to the boundary after just a couple of bounces.

The audacity of the shot left everyone, including the slip fielders, stunned, with some even facepalming. On the other end, Gill walked over to Pant, and in a moment of pure admiration, gave him a hug. The Twitterverse exploded with praise for Pant’s boldness, with fans celebrating the remarkable shot.
