The Hobart Hurricanes got off to a fiery start after being asked to bat first by Sydney Sixers in the Qualifier, thanks to a Mitchell Owen blitz at the top of the order.
The breakout star of the campaign hammered 36 runs off just 15 balls, continuing his development as an opener with three boundaries and as many sixes.
His explosive cameo had the crowd at Bellerive Oval buzzing, as fans rallied behind the purple brigade. However, not everything went smoothly for one particular fan.
On the fourth ball of the third over, Owen latched onto a short delivery from Ben Dwarshius and sent it soaring over midwicket with a powerful pull shot. As the ball flew into the stands, a fan positioned himself on the stairs, ready to make the catch. But the plan quickly unraveled.
The ball slipped from his grasp and, in a desperate scramble, he stumbled, tripping on the stairs and tumbling painfully to the ground. Injured, embarrassed, and utterly disappointed, the fan lay there, a picture of misfortune.
Have you ever seen someone so devastated to drop a catch? 😂#BBL14 pic.twitter.com/b5DWCzdJWv
