WATCH : Flying Salt defies gravity with a stunning catch to dismiss Max Holden

Trent Rockets extended their unbeaten home streak in The Hundred Men’s 2025 with a commanding seven-wicket victory over Manchester Originals at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. Captain David Willey set the tone with a brilliant spell of 3/11 with the new ball, while Rehan Ahmed and Sam Cook chipped in with two wickets apiece. Their combined efforts restricted the Originals to a below-par 98/8. Rehan then showcased his all-round ability, guiding the chase with an unbeaten 45 off 35 balls as the Rockets cruised to 101/3 with 26 balls left.

For the Originals, skipper Phil Salt endured a disappointing outing with the bat, managing just 19 runs off 20 balls with a lone boundary. However, he made amends in the field with one of the standout moments of the match—an extraordinary catch to dismiss Max Holden. His effort was one of the few positives for the visitors on a tough evening.

The chase began with early setbacks for the Rockets as both openers were dismissed within three balls, leaving the score at a shaky 22. At that stage, Rehan and Holden came together to rebuild with a steady 39-run stand. Their partnership looked set to take the Rockets home with ease until Salt’s sensational piece of fielding broke the stand, sending Holden back after a scratchy 11-ball seven.

The moment of brilliance came in the 10th over when Josh Tongue delivered a slower ball on a good length around off stump. Holden went for a drive but mistimed it, sending the ball looping towards mid-off. What seemed destined to beat the fielder and race away for a boundary was snatched from thin air by Salt, who flung himself full-length to his right, plucking the ball out of nowhere.

The crowd gasped before erupting in applause as Salt rose to his feet, ball in hand, after completing the incredible one-handed grab. Holden could only walk back in disbelief, while Salt’s teammates rushed in to celebrate the superhuman effort. Though it couldn’t alter the outcome, the catch stood out as the highlight of the night, a reminder of Salt’s athletic brilliance even on a forgettable day with the bat.
