India had to work extremely hard on Day 4 of the second Test at the Arun Jaitley Stadium as West Indies batters John Campbell and Shai Hope put up a resilient show. Both scored centuries and stretched their overnight partnership close to 200 runs, frustrating the Indian bowlers.
Even after India broke the stand an hour into the first session, skipper Roston Chase held firm, guiding his side past India’s first-innings lead of 270. Under his watch, the visitors ensured India would have to bat again to win the match.
Once the West Indies crossed India’s total, the hosts fought back strongly. The Indian bowlers triggered a dramatic collapse, reducing the visitors from 271/3 to 311/9 just before Tea. It seemed India were finally on the verge of a result. However, the Windies tailenders, Justin Greaves and Jayden Seales, showed admirable resistance, refusing to give their wickets away easily.
Greaves even reached his half-century, stretching the lead close to 100 runs and making life tough for the Indian bowlers. As the lead approached three figures, Kuldeep Yadav produced a special delivery to try and break the stand. On the penultimate ball of the 114th over, he bowled from around the stumps, delivering what appeared to be a normal ball just outside off.

However, he had cleverly gone seam-up, removing the wrist spin and pushing it through with extra pace at 107.8 km/h. Seales tried to cut it but was late, managing only a thick edge. The ball unexpectedly struck wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel’s pads before trickling behind him toward the boundary. The batsmen ran three, taking the West Indies’ lead beyond 100.
The entire Indian team looked visibly disappointed after the missed opportunity, realizing how close they were to wrapping things up.Even commentator Dinesh Karthik expressed surprise, remarking that Jurel usually wouldn’t miss such chances. However, fans on social media were quick to defend the young keeper, noting that Kuldeep’s unorthodox delivery and unexpected pace made it far from a routine catch.
