WATCH : Urvil Patel goes all out to persuade the umpire in a hilarious appeal

Bengal continued their dominant run in the Ranji Trophy 2025–26 season, securing their second consecutive win by defeating Gujarat by a massive 141 runs at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Pacer Mohammed Shami was the star with eight wickets in the match, including a brilliant five-wicket haul in the second innings. Meanwhile, left-arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed bagged the Player of the Match award for his exceptional nine-wicket performance.

Chasing a target of 327, Gujarat’s Urvil Patel put up a valiant fight with an unbeaten century after coming in at number three. Despite his heroics, Gujarat’s innings folded for just 185 runs, handing Bengal another convincing victory and keeping their winning streak intact in the domestic season.

Earlier, a lighthearted moment took place during Bengal’s second innings on Day 3, involving Urvil Patel and a comical LBW appeal. Kazi Saifi, who came in as an injury substitute for Sudip Chatterjee, looked to pad away a turning delivery from spinner Siddharth Desai.

The ball pitched outside off and spun sharply into the left-hander, striking his pad as he stretched forward with his bat hidden behind. The bowler and fielders went up in a loud appeal, but it was Urvil Patel’s exaggerated reaction that stole the show.

The wicketkeeper moved theatrically from his position, imitating the batter’s stance to demonstrate that no shot was offered. He even shook his hips dramatically to convince the umpire — but the official, unfazed, calmly denied the appeal, leaving everyone amused on the field.
