AB De Villiers to play tests, quits as South African ODI captain

The South African star cricketer AB de Villiers confirm that he is available for all the three formats of cricket for his team South Africa. But also announced that he quit the captaincy from One Day Internationals format. This is the mixed news for his fans, but the main thing is that he is back in the Test format.

De Villiers took that decision after the sensational defeat of the South African team against England in the recent Test series. Where the South African team lost the series by a margin of 3-1. De Villiers has been out of the Test format since January 2016.

De Villiers said,”Following this recent break, I really do feel refreshed and revived. I want to get back on the field and I have today assured the national selectors that I will be available for selection in all three formats of the game during the coming season.”

AB de Villiers is from on those few batsmen, whose average is more than 50 in the longer formats of cricket. Earlier AB was told that he’ll lead the team in 2019 World Cup, but now for the Team’s future he took this important decision.

“Faf du Plessis has proved to be an outstanding captain of the Twenty20 and test teams, and bearing this in mind, I have informed Cricket South Africa that I would like to step down as captain of the ODI team.”

“It has been an honour to lead the team for the past six years, but it is now time for someone else to take the ODI side forward,” he added.
