Aakash Chopra Feels Gujarat Titans Will Not Lift the Trophy This Season

The upcoming week marks the commencement of the latest IPL season. On Friday, March 31, Chennai Super Kings will go head-to-head against Gujarat Titans in their season opener.

During their debut season in the Indian Premier League, Gujarat Titans proved to be a formidable team. The underdogs surpassed expectations and enjoyed a nearly flawless run.

Gujarat Titans, despite having a young and inexperienced squad, managed to clinch the IPL championship, which is something that perennial competitors such as Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals, and Royal Challengers Bangalore have yet to accomplish.

Under the leadership of Hardik Pandya, Gujarat Titans secured their first-ever IPL title, and dominated the final match against Rajasthan Royals, winning by a significant margin.

According to Aakash Chopra, it is highly unlikely that the team will win the trophy again, as this is a rare feat that only a few teams have achieved twice in the tournament’s history, such as Mumbai and Chennai. While the team is talented, Chopra is not entirely convinced that they can match the records of these two powerhouses.

However, he believes that the team has what it takes to make it to the playoffs, though he wouldn’t be surprised if they failed to do so. Chopra also expressed his concerns about the team’s batting, stating that while they have many batters, they may lack the necessary striking power.
