The leading sportswear brand Adidas has entered into a significant partnership with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as their official kit sponsor. BCCI recently finalized a five-year agreement with Adidas valued at INR 350 crores. Under this deal, Adidas will provide financial support to the Indian Board by contributing INR 65 lakh per match.
On May 22, BCCI secretary Jay Shah took to Twitter to express his delight in announcing the partnership between @BCCI and @adidas as the official kit sponsor. Shah emphasized BCCI’s dedication to the growth of cricket and expressed great enthusiasm for collaborating with one of the world’s top sportswear brands. He extended a warm welcome to Adidas.
According to reports, the BCCI has inked a 5-year agreement with Adidas valued at INR 350 crores. As part of the deal, Adidas will contribute INR 65 lakh per match to the Indian Board. Further details about the association with Adidas were not disclosed by Jay Shah.
The previous partnership between BCCI and MPL Sports concluded earlier than anticipated, resulting in an interim sponsorship arrangement with Killer Jeans, a renowned clothing brand. The contract between BCCI and Killer Jeans is scheduled to expire on May 31.
It’s worth noting that prior to this development, Nike, an American sportswear manufacturer, held the title sponsorship for Team India’s kit. In 2020, the BCCI replaced Nike with the sports merchandise brand MPL Sports, which had a three-year deal. Now, after three years, Team India will finally have a prominent sports apparel brand as their kit sponsor.
Following their participation in the IPL 2023, the players are currently representing their respective franchises. However, they will soon don the white jerseys as they prepare to face Australia in the highly anticipated WTC 2023 Final. The final is scheduled to commence on June 7 and will continue until June 11. This prestigious match will take place at the renowned ‘The Oval Cricket Stadium’ situated in London, England.
