Adidas shares glimpses of new Team India jersey

Adidas, one of the world’s leading sports clothing companies, has recently inked a five-year contract with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Under this lucrative agreement worth 250 Crore, Adidas will exclusively manufacture all the cricket kits for the Indian national team across different formats.

The announcement has sparked immense delight among fans, who eagerly await glimpses of the new Team India jersey unveiled by Adidas.

In an official statement on Monday, Jay Shah, the Secretary of BCCI, revealed that Adidas will now take charge of producing both match kits and training kits. This association will persist until March 2028, during which time Adidas will serve as the primary sponsor for all BCCI merchandise.

Previously, the BCCI had collaborations with MPL Sports and KKCL’s Killer, both Indian brands. However, these partnerships were relatively short-lived, lasting only three years, whereas the newly formed alliance with Adidas promises a more extensive and enduring relationship.

The renowned German brand is prepared to make a substantial financial investment in the Indian Cricket Board. Nevertheless, the figures fall just shy of Nike’s previous payment of 88 lakhs per match to the BCCI in 2020. Adidas and Nike have been engaged in a bitter-sweet rivalry across various sports, and now, perhaps, this rivalry will extend to the realm of cricket as well.

For the first time, the Indian team will don the three stripes, departing from their previous association with brands like Nike, MPL, and KKCL’s Killer.

The anticipation surrounding the Indian team’s highly anticipated jersey is escalating with Adidas adding to the excitement by sharing a sneak peek on Instagram. In their recent post, they uploaded a video encouraging fans to send them a direct message to catch a glimpse of the new jersey.

A fan managed to capture a screenshot of the photo and shared it on Twitter, causing a wave of admiration. The brand-new jersey is receiving widespread praise on Twitter, with one fan drawing a comparison to the iconic jersey of the Argentina football team.
